REVIEW IT! Professional Review Services

Founder of a volunteer team of people dedicated to encouraging the emerging authors, self-published authors, and small press authors. The fact is that reviews can be very hard to come by for even the "big names." Using standard professional evaluative criteria, volunteer readers evaluate a work and if it meets the specification, create a review that is placed on the groups blog at Review It! (http://reviewservice.blogspot.com/). No guarantees, no payment, and no scams. PRS seeks to be an honest voice to give new authors an honest chance to succeed.

CONTACT INFO

Storytellers, like other performers, usually charge for the services they render.

The following prices cover the range from experienced to national name. The bold figures are what I normally charge. The storyteller researches, learns, and perfects their art in the same manner that dancers or musicians do. In addition, differing ages require different levels and types of stories. Many hours of prep work proceed any storytelling event.

A full performance of 40-50 minutes usually costs about $100 to $1500, plus mileage or trandsportation /meals/board. A short performance of about 20-30 minutes usually costs $50-$550, plus mileage (etc.).

Delivery of one story under 20 minutes is about $25-$100... Sometimes the cost is negotiable - depending on the situtation - always ask.

Storytellers usually need smaller, intimate spaces, or if larger spaces are used, there must be sound and few distractions. Some water bottles handy are always a plus.

Places to NOT place a storyteller: near a music band, animals, machinery, a noisy bar or eating space.

STORYTELLER

Over the years Marilyn A. Hudson has shared stories in schools and libraries across the state and to audiences in many other locales.Honing a sense of the dramatic she delivered tales full of energy, theater, and grand play. As a professional librarian she found a steady audience with children, teens, teachers, and parents. Blending a love of stories with literacy she advocated for the use of stories in classrooms, in homes, and in many other settings. She has traveled the state over the last decade sharing stories whereever she could get people to stop long enough to listen. She has been a featured teller at three "Tellabrations!", at the OKC Zoo, Orr Farm, The OKC Arts Festival, Wintertales! (Oklahoma Olio Concert), the Lawton Community Theater, various churches, schools, and libraries. She was featured on the 2002 CD "Autumn Leaves & Stories All Around" produced by the Oklahoma Territory Tellers. She conducted workshops at Encyclo-Media, Oklahoma Library Association, and for "Storytelling 101" programs sponsored by the Metropolitan Library System of Oklahoma City and County. Many of the handouts for these are on her blog "OKLAHOMA TELLERS". She assisted in several program designed to instill a love of reading, books, learning, and stories in county families. As a School Library Media Specialist she created what may be the first tall tale female of Oklahoma," Annie Oklahoma". Her story appeared in the first "Red Dirt Book Festival Anthology" (2003). As an inspirational speaker she used stories to share timeless wisdom from many cultures.

CONSULTANT

Marilyn has served as a consultant to several libraries in reviewing their training, programming, custormer service, and outreach plans.

She has also consulted with several churches on visitor first impressions, customer service, ministry operations, and programming issues.
